Textile Screen Printing

Grafx 2012 012Grade 7 Stencil Outline – Students in Grade 7 create their own hand cut stencils. These stencils are then used to learn the basics of screen printing. By the end of this lesson students should be adept in using an exacto blade, stencilization of images and using the basic tools and equipment for screen printing.

In Grade 8 students are exposed to a professional level of screen printing single to all the way up to four colour images. Students will learn how to properly prepare screens from cleaning to applying light sensitive emulsion then “burning” and printing an image onto shirts. Typically students are also given the opportunity to help create school attire for sports teams at the school. Students will also learn about Plastisol inks and how to properly handle them.
